For the rest of the summer on Monday evenings, WUOT-FM is re-broadcasting recordings of last season’s Knoxville Symphony Orchestra concerts. Tonight’s broadcast at 8 p.m. airs the January 2014 Masterworks concert that featured guest conductor Sean Newhouse.
The concert also featured pianist Louis Schwizgebel in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23, along with Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Suite, Johann Strauss’ Emperor Waltzes and his overture to Die Fledermaus.
In my review, I offered “under Newhouse’s extremely capable baton, the orchestra turned out performances that were impeccable in style, art, and craft.” You can read the entire review here.
